Morgan Freeman Was Stunned When Offered Unforgiven By Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood’s 1992 film Unforgiven was an instant hit and fan-favorite among fans. It starred the actor cum filmmaker as the retired killer Muny, Gene Hackman as sheriff Little Bill Daggett, and Morgan Freeman in his breathtaking role of Ned Logan.

Yet, as remarkable as his performance was in the film, what’s more surprising is the stunning reaction of disbelief that The Shawshank Redemption actor had when he found out that the Million Dollar Baby actor wanted him in his film. As per IMDb:

“I was in Africa when I got the call for Unforgiven (1992). Clint called my agency and made an offer for a Western. I was like ‘He called for me?’ It was jaw-dropping.”

Then we started talking about how we could make a sequel to [the 1973 Nicholson film] The Last Detail (1973). But that didn’t pan out.”
